Early in the morning, we will embark on an exciting adventure as jeeps take us to an elevation of 2,000 meters, where our trek will begin. To make the most of the cool morning hours, we depart at 03:00 AM to ensure that we are on the trail and ready to start hiking by 04:00 AM. This hike offers breathtaking panoramic views and an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the rugged beauty of the Armenian landscape.
Khustup, with an elevation of 3,201 meters, is not only a challenging climb but also a significant pilgrimage destination. Revered in Armenian culture, the mountain holds deep spiritual importance. The name "Khustup" is believed to originate from the Hurrian word "khutu," meaning "prayer," reflecting the mountain's historical role as a place of prayer and pilgrimage. For centuries, it has been a sacred site for Armenians seeking spiritual connection.
On the slopes of Mount Khustup, near the Kozni stream, lie the relics of the renowned Armenian commander Garegin Nzhdeh, adding historical depth and further significance to this sacred mountain.
